Easy memory tricks for Vocabulary Day 5:


1) Allay: calm, pacify, diminish, lessen, reduce (fear, suspicion or worry), शांत करना

Trick to remember: allay allay मेरा बच्चा शांत होजा

eg: The police tried to allay her fears but failed.


2) Serene: calm, peaceful and untroubled, शांत 

Trick to remember: Serena Williams शांत दिल से खेलती है। 

eg: He looked as calm and serene as he always did.

3) Bifurcate: divided in to two branches

Trick to remember: Bi= two and cat = Kaat (काटना). दो टुकड़े में काटना। 

eg: The Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, 2014 is an Act of Indian Parliament that bifurcated the state of Andhra Pradesh into Telangana and the residuary Andhra Pradesh state, as an outcome of the Telangana movement.

4) Expunge: remove, erase, delete completely (something unwanted or unpleasant)

Trick to remember: Sponge is used to remove/ erase dust on the blackboard

eg: He could not expunge the incident from his memory.

5) Bliss: supreme happiness or joy

Trick to remember: Bless (आशीर्वाद ) मिलने के बाद बहुत ख़ुशी मिलती है। 

eg: Those who suffer from severe depression rarely experience days of bliss.

Easy memory tricks for Idioms and phrases Day 5:

1) Hornets nest: A dangerous, complicated situation, a troublesome situation

Trick to remember: hornet = wasp. Agar hum hornets nest के ऊपर पत्थर पेखेंगे तोह wasps हम पर  attack करेंगे . तब हम dangerous situation में रहेंगे।

eg: The new production targets have stirred up a hornet's nest.

2) Breathe one's last: to die

Trick to remember: मरने के पहले हर किसी का आखरी सांस ही होता है। 

eg: After our parents breathed their last, my three siblings and I had to decide what to do with their property.

3) Pull the plug: To stop something, prevent something from continuing

Trick to remember: अगर charging ka plug निकाल देंगे तोह charging रुक जाएगी।

eg: The old man decided to pull the plug on spending everything that he earned on his children.

4) Take one's hat off: admire, to give (someone) praise or credit, प्रशंसा करना

Eg: I take my hat off to that organization for providing help when no one else does.

5) Hen party: A social gathering of women only

Trick to remember: Hen = female. Hen is a female chicken. So its a party of women only.

It is a party for a woman who is going to get married to which only her female friends are invited.

eg: No point in inviting a rooster to a hen party, especially if he has a valid point to make.
